HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
Cathedral Relief Service (CRS) funding comes mainly from donations and sponsorships. And we are always glad to accept any help you can give us, either by donating money directly or by sponsoring projects. Instead of making a general donation, you may prefer to support a project . There are many projects for the community development in which you can participate with your support and contribution.
Education and Health are two areas that CRS has consistently focused on because these two aspects are crucial for a Child's development. CRS operates Pre-Schools as a vital component in the community development projects. You can support us by sponsoring a child’s education. Your support of £40 per year can help a child building a future on solid foundation.
Teachers are the key people in the formal and non-formal education process. They are crucial to the development of the children who attend such education centres. Your support of £475 per year can help a teacher to build the future of deprived children in the slums.
Sponsor a BALWADI / PRE- SCHOOL
Balwadi are pre-schools for children under the age of 6 years. They prepare children for regular school and formal education. Pre-school ensures that the child’s time is utilized in the most productive way. These centres help ensure that children do not get engaged in child labour. It has also been observed that children who have attended balwadi’s are less likely to drop out of regular school. Children in balwadi’s are mainly taught through games. It’s a “joyful learning” process. They are also introduced to basic health and hygiene. A typical balwadi has 25 children. Your support of £725 per year can meet the expenditure to support a BALWADI.

You may prefer to identify and support a particular Education Project of CRS (one school). Under this scheme, CRS acts as link between you and your selected project and make sure the proper implementation of the selected project. Besides channeling your funds and contribution to the project, we will also be responsible for monitoring the work operational cost of the project as well as the education of the children. Your support of £725 per year can help a School in building the future of 25 children.
In partnership with local clubs/CBOs, CRS organizes 16 skill training (CRAFT/MACHINE KNITTING) centres for Women of the slums in embroidery, tailoring, fabric painting, garment production and jute products. Your support of £660 per year can sustain a skill training center including the trainer’s remuneration.
CRS is running a training centre for the physically disabled and those persons having a speech or hearing disability. The centre aims to instil confidence, self-respect and dignity enabling them to become independent, useful citizens by equipping them with skills for self-employment. The one year course includes tailoring, needlework, chalk and candle making, composing, printing and binding. Your support of £660 per year will cover the salary of instructor, stipend for the trainees, material and running costs.
